The Iranian Cyber Army has hacked into 13 websites belonged to the opposition front of the Islamic Republic.
This hacking attempt includes website of Iran Briefing (www.Iranbriefing.net) a non-profit human rights organization registered in the United States. Over the past two years, this organization has brought out several scams, corruptions, and human rights violations to the light and published several reports on its website.
Interestingly, a month ago, the website of General Inspection Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran had illegally published investigative reports copied from Iran Briefing without any permission.
While the Organization is still considering its ways to sue the Iranian government for infringing its copyright, On Friday, the main website of Iran Briefing (www.iranbriefing.net) including its sub-domains and other subsidiary websites have been hacked and defaced by the Iranian Cyber Army leaving a message claiming them to be more powerful.
The Organization has filed a complaint with Internet Crime Complaint Center before restoring its website. The hacking attempt is more likely to be related to current presidential elections.
The organization is currently investigating the origin of the attack, type of attack, and reserve the right to take a different action in a legal manner. The initial investigation by its security team and previous research it has done in the past but has not published yet points the origin of attack to Pakistan, China, and UAE. Iran Briefing is also in the process of contacting the governments of these countries about IRGC’s criminal cyber activities through its Cyber Army. And finally Iran Briefing is watching and holding responsible the following organizations that are aiding Iran’s Cyber Army in its cyber crime by funding over $1 Billion dollar in its cyber crimes:
