Ali Bikas, social activist and a post-election detainee still awaits in prison limbo.
RAHANA- Ali Bikas was not allowed to go on a prison leave during Norouz (new year) holidays and is still detained in ward 350 of Evin prison with a completely unclear condition.According to Kaleme, Ali Bikas, a history PhD, was arrested on June 14, 2009, two days after the presidential election. He has been detained since then without being granted any prison leave. Ali Bikas used to cooperate with the Information Committee of Mir Hossein Mousavi’s electoral headquarters.
Ali Bikas has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court; however, the appeals court has not ruled its verdict. The family of Ali Bikas are worried about his unclear condition and request the clarification of his status and ruling of the final verdict.
Ali Bikas currently suffers from oral and dental disease in prison and accessing dental care is limited in the ward 350 of Evin prison. The family of this detainee also demand care for his health condition.
