Appellate court ratifies ten-year sentence imposed on Iranian physicist and Ph.D. student from University of Texas.
29-year-old Omid Kokabee was arrested two years ago upon returning from his studies in the United States on charges of conspiracy with foreign nations against Iran and spying for Israel, “communicating with a hostile government” and “illegitimate earnings.” He was sentenced in May 2012, along with 12 others, on the collective allegation of collaborating with the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency. The appellate court has now ratified the ten-year sentence he received.
