Eighty days after his arrest, Mohammad Yusef Rashidi remains in detention without being charged.
RAHANA – The expelled Amir Kabir University student, Mohammad Yusef Rashidi, remains in detention 3 months after his arrest and may face heavy charges.
According to RAHANA, Rashidi was moved from ward 209 to section 7 of Evin two weeks ago. His relatives have been warned to refrain from talking to the media about his current situation.
Before being moved to the public section, Rashidi went twice on hunger strike for a total of 30 days. He was hospitalized for one week outside prison. Rashidi’s interrogations concluded 50 days ago but he is still being held without charge.
Rashidi played an active role in the 2006 protests at Amir Kabir University, during a visit by Ahmadinejad. He was given 5 semester suspension, but university officials have not been able to expel him indefinitely as his marks are high.
Rashidi, who is an Amir Kabir naval engineering student (2006 entry), was detained on December 7th, 2009, by university’s security office upon arriving on campus and handed to agents from the Intelligence Ministry. Rashidi, who has no history of political activities and did not take part in protests, is being held only because of his friendship with Majid Tavakoli.
