The Attorney General has said that jailed journalist Bahman Ahmadi Amouee will remain
in solitary confinement in Rajai-Shahr Prison in Karaj until further notice. He was transferred to Rajai-Shahr after first being placed in solitary confinement in Evin Prison as punishment for participating in a ceremony in memory of a political prisoner who died in prison, Hoda Saber. According to reports by human rights activists, the isolation wing in Rajai-Shahr is one of the most dismal places in Iranian prisons. It is equipped with many closed circuit cameras, has with no sanitary or personal hygiene facilities, and the guards open the cells only three times a day to allow prisoners to use the toilet. Punishing prisoners with batons, electric cables, etc. is common practice, and some prisoners have committed suicide or become very ill in this section.
