Two journalists imprisoned in Rajaï Shahr Prison transferred to solitary confinement

Keyvan Samimi and Masoud Bastani, two journalists imprisoned in Rajaï Shahr Prison, were sent to solitary confinement. Their transfer was carried out after prison guards entered Wing 12 of the prison and conducted a search of the cells of political prisoners. The two were sent to solitary confinement due to publication of photos of the two in newspapers from jail. Keyvan Samimi was sentenced to six years in prison, of which he has served two and a half years. During his imprisonment, Samimi has launched hunger strikes on several occasions. Masoud Bastani was arrested for journalistic activities during the elections and was also sentenced to six years in prison. His wife, Mahsa Amarabadi, is also imprisoned in the women’s division of Evin Prison.
