A member of the Iraqi Parliament’s Security Committee said that he received 
“confirmed” information that “large quantities” of uranium stored in secret locations in Syria were transported to Iran through Iraq. The uranium was intended for use in the Syrian nuclear reactor bombed in 2007 in Dir al-Zur. According to the same source, the uranium was transported following Tehran’s serious concerns over the possibility of ousting Al-Assad’s regime.
