“By putting economic pressure on Iran, America wants to force us to enter talks with this country … any negotiation under the circumstances is surrendering to America and it will never happen,’ Qasem Soleimani was quoted as saying by Fars.

The commander of the IRGC’s elite Quds Force is currently sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury and has been labeled a terrorist by Washington and Israel.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced that they would be designating the IRGC as a terrorist entity; this decision would anger the Iranian government, who later declared the CENTCOM forces as a terrorist entity in a tit-for-tat move.

In addition to designating the IRGC as a terrorist entity, the Trump administration has sought to increase the economic pressure on the Iranian government by cancelling their oil waivers to eight nations.

Iran has responded to this move by threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz.
