Commander: Captured Israeli Soldier Hamas’s Winning Card

TEHRAN (FNA)- Brigadier General Seyed Mohammad Baqerzadeh, the head of Iran’s committee in charge of searching for those missing in action, underlined that capture of the Israeli soldier, Shaul Aron, is a winning card in the hands of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, in its campaign against the Zionist regime.

“At present the capture of Shaul Aron by the Palestinian fighters is a valuable reserve for the freedom of a remarkable number of Palestinian prisoners and can be used for strengthening the bargaining chip against the Zionist regime,” Baqerzadeh told FNA on Monday.

He said the capture of Aron has increased the risk factor for the Zionist regime.

Baqerzadeh said that the high morale of the Palestinian fighters heralds a cumbersome situation for the Zionist regime in the coming days.

The Hamas-affiliated al-Qassam Brigades said on Sunday night that it had captured an Israeli soldier, the first since the release of Gilad Shalit in 2011.

Al-Qassam Brigades Spokesman Abu Ubaida said that the captured soldier is named Shaul Aron and his military number is 6092065.

The fact that they did not announce (the loss of the soldier) shows that they were trying to hide their losses,” the spokesman said in the speech, noting Israel’s lack of response.

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Baqerzadeh revealed that the Zionist regime is hiding the corpses of those Israelis killed by the Palestinians’ retaliatory attacks on the occupied territories.

The Zionist regime’s casualties are gradually increasing and the regime has faced a new challenge for hiding the number of its casualties,” he told FNA.

Baqerzadeh said that reports from the occupied territories said that the Zionist regime is seeking to transfer the corpses of those killed in the Palestinians’ attacks to unknown places in the deserts near Ashkoul and Tel Aviv and in the back of ambulances which go to the two cities’ hospitals at night.

Noting that the Zionist regime is building new cemeteries in the deserts, he said that the regime has obliged all the Israeli hospitals to keep the corpses of all those killed in Palestinian attacks for some days to be buried in specified places by the security forces.

His remarks came as the Palestinians launched some 1,400 rockets into Israel by now and the Israeli news sources have strictly been banned by the regime from announcing the number of the Israelis killed in the Palestinians’ missile attacks.

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 14 consecutive days, killing at least 478 people and injuring more than 3,000 others.

Four out of every five Palestinians killed during Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza have been civilians, including dozens of women and children, the United Nations said last Monday.

Commander: Iran Enjoying Mighty Defensive Power for Big Confrontations

TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said Iran enjoys such a high level of defensive capabilities that it can repel major enemies in large-scale wars.

“Despite the enemy’s huge investment and its use of different scenarios, its attempts, specially to disturb security at the bordering areas and stir superficial ethnic, religious and sectarian conflicts, have all failed,” Jazayeri said, addressing a gathering in Tehran on Monday.

At present, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defensive power and capability is beyond that of the normal countries as it has been designed and prepared for big enemies,” he added.

Jazayeri said that the Iranian Armed Forces enjoy full superiority and control over the regional conditions and situation and have made the necessary arrangements for any possible insecurity.

In relevant remarks in May, Commander of the Iranian Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan reiterated that the country is now enjoying the best military force with unique features, who are fully prepared to confront any possible enemy threat and aggression under any conditions.

Iran’s Armed Forces will be never shocked by enemiesˈ moves, Pourdastan stressed, addressing a gathering in Tehran.

Today, we are facing new threats that are totally different in terms of type, shape and size compared to those of the past,” he added.

Also in April, Pourdastan warned that the country’s Armed Forces will give a swift and crushing response to any aggressive military move.

In case of any threat, our response will be more deadly and heavier,” the commander said in Tehran at the time.

He underlined Tehran’s policy of keeping peace and tranquility in the region and the world, but meanwhile said Iran monitors the moves of the regional and trans-regional states day and night and if any aggression is made against the country, it will receive a crushing response.

Commander Underlines Iran’s Might, Security

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan stressed that Iran is enjoying the highest levels of might and security despite being located in a volatile region and its opposition to the US.

“Today, certain countries which have common borders with us are entangled in insecurity and abundant conflicts but Iran has stood against the US mightily and is insisting on its demands as a result of our martyrs’ blood,” Pourdastan said, addressing a number of Iranian commanders and army personnel in Tehran on Saturday night.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s honor, might and security are indebted to the martyrs’ blood,” he added.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Chairman of the Spanish Parliament’s Foreign Policy Commission Duran Lleida hailed Iran’s high security, and called on the country to help the European states in the establishment of security and stability in the Middle East.

The region is in a very sensitive situation and we should help each other in the establishment of stability and security in the Middle East region,” Lleida said in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran.

The Spanish official pointed to his country’s concerns about a rise in extremism and terrorism in the region and the world, and said, “Iran plays an important and influential role in boosting security and resolving the existing regional problems.”

He noted that the threats emanating from terrorism and extremism in the Middle East, specially Iraq and Syria, is the cause of concern for the European Union.

Also last month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underlined that Iran is an important and influential player in the Middle East, which can resolve many problems of the regional countries.

If we want our policies in the Middle East show some results, we should call non-Arab countries of the region like Iran and Turkey, which have progressive positions in the Islamic world, to participate in settling problems in the Middle East, specially Syria,” Lavrov told reporters in Moscow.

WorldTribuneBAGHDAD — Iran is said to have deployed at least 5,000 troops in neighboring Iraq.

“The Quds Force is trained to organize terrorist groups and intervene in the affairs of other countries,” Hussein Yazdanpanah, deputy chief of the Kurdistan Freedom Party, said. “They have always been close around [Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri] Al Maliki.”

The sources said IRGC sent the first units in Iraq about a week after ISIL’s capture of Mosul on June 9. Within days, IRGC troops were deployed in such Iraqi cities as Baghdad, Diyala, Karbala Najaf and Samara.

Yazdanpanah said IRGC oversaw four types of forces in Iraq. He cited the special operations forces, called Qarargai Ramadhan, Abu Akram, Al Rashid and Mujahadeen.

“They are stationed in Diyala and Samara as well as in Muthana Airport and Baghdad International Airport,” Yazdanpanah said.

So far, the sources said, IRGC has sustained losses of scores of soldiers in battles with ISIL. Most of them were said to have been killed in fighting north of Samara in July.

The statistic was disclosed by the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) amid mounting international concern over non-combatant casualties during an operation Israeli officials had claimed was aimed solely at rooting out militants.

An informed source told HRANA’s reporter: “Mohammad Amin Agoshi, is kept in a 5m square cell and due to suffering from asthma in this extreme heat, he is facing a severe and worrisome physical condition.”

To UN Human Rights Commission

With respect and courtesy

Your honor, I am Mohammad Amin Agoshi, a political prisoner who under a cruel court verdict has been charged with 10 year imprisonment and exile to Zahedan. Due to the pressures caused by exile order and imprisonment sentence, my wife passed away and my children are left orphan.  While judicial authorities discriminate between us and the other inmates and deprived us from some facilities such as “Open Prison” which belongs to the other prisoners. Also according to Islamic penal code, prisoners after one year of exile should be transferred to their home town, however unfortunately this has not been recognized by the authorities yet.

So that, I went on hunger strike to protest at these injustice and discriminations since 8th July and   urge the authorities of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Amnesty International demand Iran government, our release and stop discrimination.

Signed by Mohammad Amin Agoshi

Supporters should “bid farewell” to velayat-e faqih if nuclear negotiations succeed: former IRGC commander

London, Asharq Al-Awsat—Devoted followers should give up on velayat-e faqih, the cornerstone of Iran’s Islamic political system, if the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 world powers end in a comprehensive agreement, a former IRGC commander said at a conference on July 15.

If the rumors about Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei being pessimistic about the negotiations prove incorrect [i.e., if negotiations succeed], we should bid farewell to velayat-e faqih,” or rule by a supreme Islamic jurist—the position Khamenei currently holds—Said Qassemi said.

In his remarks, at a conference organized by opponents of President Hassan Rouhani’s reconciliatory foreign policy, Qassemi also criticized Iran’s involvement in the nuclear negotiations, saying: “The Supreme Leader has stressed repeatedly that we should not sit with the Americans at the same negotiating table.”

A video clip of his remarks has been posted online, although the incident has gone unreported in the Iranian media.

Qassemi, a former middle-ranking commander in the influential Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, has expressed his pessimism about the talks in the past. A hardliner on Iran’s political scene, his unprecedented comments serve to further underline the discontent among Iranian hardliners with the talks.

The comments in the video clip are one of the rare signs of growing discontent among Iran’s top official aides, and perhaps even suggest that those closest to the Supreme Leader disagree with his decisions on the nuclear file.

Following a number of similar comments recently from senior officials, arguably the most pressing challenge facing the Supreme Leader is quelling disquiet among his own greatest supporters.

Iran’s Supreme Leader has frequently voiced his opposition to talks with the US, although earlier this week he expressed his full support of President Hassan Rouhani’s government and its work to end the nuclear impasse. In the unprecedented remarks, Khamenei said he would do everything in his power to protect his government’s efforts in Vienna.

The negotiations have come under immense pressure as the July 20 deadline to reach a comprehensive deal approaches. Significant gaps remain between the two sides, although it now appears likely the deadline, which is the date the interim deal agreed last November expires, will be extended.

Iran to fight Canadian law that allows terror victims to sue for damages

National Post – The Iranian government has given notice it intends to challenge a two-year-old Canadian law that allows victims of terrorism to sue the Islamic republic for damages.

After long ignoring a series of lawsuits filed by victims of Iranian-sponsored terrorist groups, Tehran now wants to participate in the Ontario court proceedings in a last-ditch attempt to have the cases thrown out.

Sherri Wise, a Vancouver dentist, was badly injured in a 1997 Hamas suicide bombing. She was volunteering at a Jerusalem dental clinic at the time.

A court date has been set for December to hear Iran’s motions arguing it was never properly served notice of the civil suits and that the Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act is invalid.

The Toronto lawyer representing the Iranian regime could not be reached for comment. But John Adair, who represents several terror victims trying to collect from Tehran, gave little weight to the last-minute intervention.

Our response is that they were accorded every procedural right to which they’re entitled and they chose to ignore the proceedings,” Mr. Adair said. “And so in the circumstances we don’t see any reason why they should permitted now to come back and say they want to participate and they want to object.”

A Report from the Fifth Ward of the Vakilabad Women’s Prison in Mashhad

HRANA News- The fifth ward of the women’s prison of the central prison of Mashhad, in Vakilabad (1), is designated for female prisoners of conscience. The ward consists of one room which is approximately 30 square meters, including medical services and a bathroom, and only Baha’i prisoners are placed there; at present there are 6 prisoners there.

According to HRANA, the Human Rights Activist News Agency of Iran, 5 prisoners have all been sentenced to 5 years in prison and one other person to four years. They have all been charged with acting against national security and spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic under Articles 499 and 500 of the Iranian Constitution by promoting the Baha’i Faith and participating in its activities.

VakilAbad

The prison officials treat inmates in this ward with prejudice. The prisoners are given one hour in the morning for exercise in the gym and one and a half hour in the afternoon to go outside for fresh air, and then for the remainder of the day they are locked in their cell.

These prisoners are denied the rights of other prisoners such as attending cultural classes, language learning, seminars, computer use, and other rights. They aren’t allowed access to the prison library, to meet or to communicate with other women prisoners, and during the day, in order to use the gymnasium or spend time outdoors, the rest of the female prisoners have to be dismissed from these places first. They are kept in complete isolation so that they cannot interact or communicate with other prisoners, and their condition in the prison is kept unknown to the other prison inmates.

If there is an accident, the prison officials are kind to the other female prisoners and will go to the store to buy items or pay phones for daily use; however in a similar situation, Baha’i prisoners are punished.

These prisoners are also not permitted to have leave time, which the other prisoners are granted. They are labeled security-risk prisoners, and are only allowed leave if the prosecutor lets them, and the prosecutor is the eyes and mouth of the Mashhad Intelligence Ministry.

The names of the Baha’i prisoners in this ward and their condition are listed below:

1)    Rozita Vasseghi (2), sentenced to 5 years.

2)    Sima Eshraghi (3), sentenced to 5 years.

3)    Noura Nabilzadeh (4), sentenced to 5 years.

4)    Sonia Ahmadi (5), sentenced to 5 years

5)    Nika Kholousi, sentenced to 6 years

6)    Nava Kholousi (6), sentenced to 4.5 years

More than four years has passed since Rozita Vasseghi’s conviction, but she has not had a single day of prison leave because the Mashhad Intelligence Ministry is opposed to giving her leave time!

At present, these six individuals are awaiting the transfer of two other Baha’i prisoners named May Kholousi and Dori Amri (7), while at the same time they have been kept in temporary solitary confinement by order of the Mashhad Intelligence Ministry for approximately one month.
