Medical furlough for labor activist Mohmmad Jarahi has been denied

Judicial authorities in Tabriz and the judge in charge of his court files have rejected medical furlough for Mohammad Jarahi who suffers from thyroid cancer.

According to CHRR, Mohammad Jarahi who is serving a 5-year prison term is suffering from thyroid cancer has been denied medical furlough despite the fact that for the safety of others, cancer patients who receive radiation therapy are quarantined for a week. We Are Ready to destroy Tel Aviv; Mohammad Hejazi Claims

Iran Briefing – according to Fars News Agency, Mohammad Hejazi, pointed to the remarks made by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s New Year statement about razing Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground if the enemy made a foolish move, said: “we have the preparedness to put this statement into action in the shortest time possible if the enemy makes a foolish move.”

Speaking to reporters, along Bagher Al-Oloum Festival in Baghiatollah Hospital of Tehran, he noted that: “Khamenei is well aware of the Iranian Armed Forces’ capability. We have the preparedness to put this statement into action in the shortest time possible if the enemy makes a foolish move.”

Hejazi played down statements by the U.S. and Israel that all options are on the table in dealing with the Iranian nuclear threat, and said: “Table legs are eaten by Termites and such statements signify their passive stance.”

He pointed to the nuclear negotiation in Almaty, Kazakhstan, between Iran and International Community and said: “the enemy knows that using threatening literature and military option are useless and that’s why they are negotiating.”
In response of threats by Iranian authorities, Israel’s Chief of Staff, Benny Gantz told public radio on the 65th anniversary of Israel’s foundation that our army is capable to attack any target, if it received the command. There is no place from Tehran to Gaza where Israel cannot fight.

Most of the military experts believe that Iran’s military power versus Israel’s military strength is negligible. According to Iran’s military commanders to attack Israel and destroying Tel Aviv, it’s just a claim and mostly aspects of psychological warfare.

UN powers say NKorea, Iran pose ‘serious’ threats to curbing spread of nuclear arms globally

Ahead of a round of major nuclear talks, five major powers labeled North Korea and Iran as “serious challenges” to the world’s nuclear security Friday, citing their repeated defiance of international obligations.

Senior diplomats with the U.N. Security Council’s five permanent members singled out North Korea’s nuclear test in February and Iran’s “continued pursuit of certain nuclear activities” as among the biggest threats to the 1970 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, the world’s most important pact on preventing the spread of nuclear arms.

A joint statement by Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States also called for establishing the Middle East, where Iran enjoys close ties with Russia, as a zone free of nuclear weapons. The statement preceded two weeks of talks in Geneva over the NPT, which has been signed by 190 nations and is credited with preventing the spread of nuclear weapons to dozens of nations in the 43 years since it entered into force. Iran is a member, but North Korea — along with India, Pakistan and Israel — are not.

The treaty commits nations without nuclear weapons to refrain from acquiring them. Those with them commit to take steps toward their elimination. All who sign agree that everyone has a right to develop peaceful nuclear energy. Nations meet every five years to review the treaty and try to find new approaches to old problems. The next such review will be in 2015.

Sen Pang, director-general of China’s Arms Control and Disarmament Department, whose nation has close ties to North Korea, cautioned against a “vicious cycle” of confrontation with North Korea that could lead to war.

Kurdish Former Political Prisoners Harassed in Orumiyeh and Mahabad

Over the past several months, Orumiyeh and Mahabad Intelligence Offices have summoned, detained, and harassed several Kurdish former political prisoners on the pretext of concern over their continued political activities after their release from prison, a local source told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran. In most reported cases, security forces have gone to the homes of former political prisoners on several occasions. The forces have searched the homes for several hours without providing any explanation for these actions, detaining the individuals and releasing them later.

According to the source, since the fall of 2010, Revolutionary Guards’ Intelligence Unit forces have thrice detained Shirzad Beigzadeh, a resident of Hoosan village outside the city of Orumiyeh. Each time, they held the former political prisoner who served a year in prison for 24 hours, and also searched his house. Over the past month, the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office has also summoned Beigzadeh to their Information Unit. The former prisoner of conscience was arrested on May 12, 2005, and spent six months inside the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office Detention Center under interrogation and physical and psychological torture, and suffered a broken rib. He was later temporarily released on bail. In 2006, Branch One of Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court sentenced him to four years in prison on charges of cooperating with a Kurdish political party. After his appeal, the Supreme Court reduced his sentence to one year in prison and three years’ suspended prison time.

The source, a human rights activist, told the Campaign that Zeinab Bayazidi, a former prisoner of conscience released on November 20, 2012, after serving 4.5 years at Maragheh Prison, has received threatening phone calls from individuals with blocked telephone numbers and has been visibly followed by several suspicious vehicles. During these phone calls, the anonymous callers have told Bayazidi that they are aware of “her secret activities after her release from prison,” and that they “wouldn’t allow her to continue her activities so easily.” Following the arrests of several Kurdish political and civil activists in Mahabad, pressure and threats have mounted. Previously in 2005, a female Kurdish activist from Mahabad, Serwah Kamkar, was arrested violently at a city square in public by forces from the Mahabad Intelligence Office; she was released several hours later with bruises on her body.

The human rights activist told the Campaign that due to the high sensitivity and the Iranian regime’s security approach to all issues, the Intelligence Office and the Revolutionary Guards’ Intelligence Unit in Kurdish regions of Iran routinely put pressure on former political prisoners and their families through summonses, threats, and prosecution of the individuals, in order to create an atmosphere of fear, aiming to dissuade them from continuing their political activities.

The wife of political prisoner Mehdi Khazali says her husband is being held in a “tight cell without any basic services” and his health is seriously at risk.

The Kaleme website reports that a number of political activists visited the family of jailed activist Mehdi Khazali, and they were told that his calls to the family have been getting shorter and the family is very concerned about his health in solitary confinement.

The report indicates that Khazali’s spouse has written to senior members of the clergy to urge them to break their silence in view of the “cruelty [her] husband is being subjected to.” She warned that Mehdi Khazali’s current circumstances at Evin Prison are threatening his life.

Mehdi Khazali, the disowned son of conservative clergyman Ayatollah Khazali, has been critical of the government crackdown on election protests over the past four years, and his critical blogs and his association with reformist figures have resulted in his persecution by the authorities.

What is IRGC Looking for in 11th Presidential Election?

Iran Briefing (Exclusive) – By approaching the 11th presidential election in Iran, the struggle among rival forces for the managing election and getting the expected result is getting severe. In this frame, it can be mentioned the interference of different organizations in the process and result of the election in favor of their candidate. Like previous election, the people have no role and the competition is not for attracting the people’s vote, but for planning the election and votes by dependent forces to the government who have the power.

In this way, there are two main streams: First, pro-Ahmadinejad forces, leading by Esfandiar Rahimmoshaie who is called “Perverted Stream” by IRGC and pro- khamenei forces. Second, pro-Khamenei radical forces, supported by IRGC and other security organizations that are around Khamenei and by flattery are seeking positions. Recently, both of them have warned about the accuracy of election in their formal tribunes and these struggles are getting more severe, day by day.

Ali Saeedi, the Supreme Leader’s representative in IRGC has said recently: “the intrinsic task of IRGC is engineering a reasonable election” and has warned that IRGC will suppress any interfering.

Ramezan Sharif, Public Relations Officer of IRGC has explained Ali Saeedi’s mean: “engineering a reasonable election means the legal missions and responsibilities which are to help the safety of election.”

One day after, in reaction of Ali Saeedi’s comment, Ahmadinejad said that those who want to manage the people, people will manage them. He also emphasized that “[his] government has announced its stance about a clear election” and said: “No one must not and cannot interfere the people’s election.”

Esfandiar Rahim Moshaie, who is supposed to be Ahmadinejad’s favorite candidate for presidential election, recently has said that Ahmadinejad’s government will react to any “Distortion” in the election and will not ignore it at all.
Sadeq Larijani, head of Iran’s Judiciary has also warned Ahmadinejad about “Distortion” and has said that the Guardian Council’s decision is “the final word”. The implementation of election in Iran is by government and especially Interior Ministry.

IRGC fears that Ahmadinejad who is the person in charge for the election will change the result of the election in favorer of his favorite candidate. Ahmadinejad also fears that IRGC and other organizations close to Khamenei will engineer the election to change the result in favor of Khamenei before election. IRGC in advance has begun its propaganda against Esfandiar Rahim Moshaie, Ahmadinejad and also reformists in governmental papers and news agencies.

IRGC has managed its forces to change the result of the election. Isa Farhadi, governer of Tehran on March 13 has expressed that it is predicted there will be “doubt” in the 2013 presidential election and 99 battalion of Basij forces and 15000 police are ready for the election.

Mohammadreza Toyserkani, Supreme learer’s representative in Basij in the summit of Bsijis on 6th April has said that Basij must be the axis. The enemies expect that Basij should be inactive and some people inside country intensify it. It is betrayal to the passing away Imam [Khomeini] and the present Imam [Khamenei]. He emphasized that Basij will support a candidate who is fundamentalist [pro-Khamenei] in the presidential election.

Mohammadreza Naghdi, Head of Basij Organization has announced that the next president must be pro-khamenei and the command of political and economic epic has been issued. Economic epic is dependent on political epic, because the election of a powerful government can make the way for economic development.

Couple of months ago, the Supreme Leader’s representative in IRGC also has announced explicitly that the next president must be coordinated with the Leader. These expressions are being told while since two years ago, most of the conservatives close to Khamenei turned against Ahmadinejad because of his disobedience in the way of Khamenei and disclosures about the illegal actions of IRGC especially in the contraband goods and so on. The behavior of Esfandiar Rahim Moshaie was an excuse for pro-khamenei forces that Ahmadinejad’s conservative class to be called “Perverted Stream” so the situation for their elimination in the political aspect became provided.

Finally, Ali Akbar Velayati, consultant of Khamenei said the final word and in confirmation of IRGC commanders and authorities, announced the final candidate of “coalition and development” will be chosen according to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s point of view and the assessment of coalitions’ three members.

Ali Akbar Velayati, international consultant of the Supreme Leader, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, mayor of Tehran, Gholamali Hadad Adel, parliament’s member, has formed “coalition and development” or the triple coalition.
Both pro-Khamenei and pro-Ahmadinejad forces have joint stances about reformists and independent candidates. Both of them are trying to prevent reformists and independent candidates to win the presidential election.

According to the expressions and conflicts between IRGC commanders and governments’ authorities, it can be said that conservatives close to Khamenei and IRGC are to engineer and retouch the election to change the result in favor of Khamenei which means one of the candidates of “coalition and development” who will be selected by Supreme Leader as Velayati said. Probably their engineering of election will be via disqualification of non-pro-Khamenei candidates. In election they may also make people to vote by force, money and retouch the election’s boxes. After election, if there was any protest, they will suppressed it by IRGC, Basij and police as Sadegh Larijani, head of Judiciary, and Governor of Tehran have warned.

In fact, the goal of IRGC is the election of a president who is obedience to Khamenei and IRGC. In the way to homogenize the government, IRGC is eliminating rival and critic groups and forming a closed society and spreading religious totalitarianism via military force and thinks engendering the election is a need for the basements of power. If they became successful, they will give whole power in Iran that means a full-scale oligarchy around the axis of Vilayat-e Faqih (Khamenei) and imposing its thoughts to the society.
