Opposition to the nuclear deal and the belligerence of Iranian Revolutionary Gaurd

0

sepahIran Briefing – Immediately after the nuclear Iran deal, military commanders and senior officials of the Islamic Republic have declared that the United Nations Security Council resolutions to limit Islamic Republics military power, will not be accepted and such a resolution is invalid. In fact, these statements clearly demonstrate opposition to the nuclear deal as another step of Iranian Revolutionary Guards towards the implementation of the policy of “war”,starting since the negotiations began and continues.

While the Iran’s nuclear program marathonfinally came to the signing an agreement between Iran and 3+3and as a result the Iranian people breathe a sigh of relief of sanctions andeconomic boom, after six days on Monday July 20,the UN Security Council issued a new resolution, voted unanimously to revoke the relevant resolutions, so that the positive impulses of worldalso be sent to Tehran’s confidence, but despite the happiness of the people coming to street at the night after signing the agreement and despite the live broadcast presentation of Barack Obama, US president, from the White House, and Hassan Rohani, Iran’s president, from Pastor, in minutes after signing the agreement, there was not good news from Tehran.

In the first reaction, responding the congratulated letter of the president, the leader of Iran called the agreement as “a written text” and denied to call that an agreement. After that, forEid sermons he declared to the prayers not only “his mistrust” to the parties of the negotiations, but also explicitly stated that the Islamic Republic will not desist supporting Iran’s “Friends”. The Iranian leader emphasized that supporting “Bashar al-Assad” and Palestine (Hamas) and Lebanon (Hezbollah in Lebanon) and Yemen (Houthis militias) will continue.

Following this statement, in days that United Nations Security Council resolution was ready to lift some of the sanctions against Iran, on July 8,  the commander “Mohammad Ali Jafari,” Commander of the Army said: “there are some concerns about the resolution going to be approved in the UN Security Council about Iran’s nuclear activities. “He, however, did not mention the matter of concern, but expressed hope that these concerns be resolved. On the other hand, the commander YadollahJavani, the advisor of the Supreme Leader’s representative in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, told the Fars news agency: “the vigorous defense and missile issues were the red lines in the negotiations, and under no circumstances wewill not appease them.”

In continuing these reactions, the MPs (who are often former commander of Iranian Revolutionary Guards) also opposed to the draft resolution. General “Mohammad Ismail Kosari,” a member of National Security Commission and also parliament’s foreign policy, said:” The advantages and disadvantages of the resolution and comprehensive agreement will be determined by Parliament.”Kosari continued: “The parliament will not accept any restrictions on Iran’s missile activities.”He also pointed out that nuclear weapons are not as ballistic missiles and continued:” it is necessary that its section to be corrected.” The other member of the National Security Commission and parliament’s foreign policy, Mohammad Saleh Jokar, pointed to the restrictions imposed on Iranian missile activities “If the other parties in the talks want to ruin the agreement, they could insist on such issues and make sure that Iran will not obey these avarices.” He said.

These reactions were expressed while in one of the paragraphs of “independent release”, the 6 powerful countries in the negotiations asked Iran not to act in any kind of activities related to ballistic missiles designedwith a nuclear weapon capability, including firing of any rockets using such technologies. According to this paragraph, “, The restrictions for Iran will continueuntil eight years after the day of admission or as long as the International Atomic Energy Agency” detailed summary “to confirm.”

Despite the views of representatives of Extremist and commanders, finally the United Nations Security Council resolution was adopted with overwhelming majority and at the same time, the America’s Foreign Minister, John Kerry, called the Supreme Leader’s remarks as concerning and continued: “I do not know how to interpret these words at this time except to understand it as it is. I understand that sometimes the reality is different from public positions, but if the policy [of Iran] is disturbing and very problematic, we have to wait and see.” the Foreign Minister also announced that he will meet the leaders of the Persian Gulf countries and will travel to the region soon. He said that “he will talk with the leaders of the Persian Gulf countries about the provisions of the agreement with Iran and regional security.”

As mentioned above, the expressed senior army commanders and MPs mentioned opposition, it seems that the balance of power at the pros and cons of the deal, and the results in Iran has been disrupted.Despite the optimism of some analysts, the words of Ali Khamenei cannot be interpreted satisfactory and yet it is not clear after the speech by Mohammad JavadZarif and Ali Akbar Salehion the Iran’s Parliament, what conclusion come to the MPs.

Although the world tried to engage with Iran as a policy of incentives and security guarantees, the warlike Iranian government and the military commanders imitating the Iran’s leader with their opposition act as the Republicans in the US Congress act along with Israel. As a resultthe agreement that was going to improve the general situation of the Iranian people and controlthe Iranian nuclear case, still is threatening by the groups within the government and outside of Iran.

Qasem Soleimani remains in international sanction list

Qasem Soleimani ”the commander of the Qods Force of Iranian Revolutionary Guards” remains in international sanction list.

However the Treasury Ministry of America in a separate command in 2011,declared the sanction of “ Qasem Soleimani ”, the commander of the Qods Force of Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and “Mohsen Chizari” -as the commander of the Qods Force operational headquarters and training- for allegedly helping the crackdown in Syria,as part of the agreement annexesreleasing Qasem Soleimani ’s name in the list of people that can be removed from sanctions, came to the headlines.

In this regard, the Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman, reacted and said:” the sanctions imposed by America against the commander of the Qods Force has nothing to do with the Iranian nuclear dispute. Qasem Soleimani’s name, the commander of Qods Force, is at sanction list of the United Nations. In case of acting all the obligations, in second stage (after 8 years) his name will be removed from the UN sanctions list. He is in our terrorist sanctions list, not nuclear sanctions. “

This statement could intensify the oppositions against the agreement in Iranin the coming days. During the twelve years of nuclear negotiations- which in the latest round came to nuclear agreement after two years- Mr. Rohani’s government wastrying to compromise with the world and stablish a relationship based on mutual understanding instead of confrontation, however until the last minutes the oppositions of the negotiations were beating the drums of opposition. In this way, despite the few support of the leadership about the negotiating team, with his contradictory statements caused the opposition still remain open.

Despite the joy and happiness of the people of Iran and the eleventh government’s plan, clearly the nuclear agreement is not under ‘Ali Khamenei’s satisfaction and demand. He described the agreement as “a written text”. The leader of Islamic Republic of Iran called the 159-pages of agreement and the annexes of months of hard work of expertise and six countries’tough onIran, as a kind of worthless. In response to the Hassan Rohani’s greeting, the fifth president, called the negotiation unreliable! Even he did not value for the happiness of the people and declared his dissatisfaction by saying, “people keep their dignity”.

“It is necessary to be carefully considered the provided textand then, if approved, take care of the other possible breaches of covenants and make sure that the gate of these possibilities are closed. Surly you are aware that some of these six states are not reliable at all.” He replies in his short answer to the president. This statement is said, while Hassan Rohani, as the president, and many advocates and even some opponents of the Islamic Republic, called him as the architect of Iran’s foreign policy.

Khamenei’s response to the president is as a green light to the army of the Revolutionary Guards and 80 representatives’ opponents in the Islamic Republic Iran Council, called as Delvapasan meaning concerns, which has repeatedly rejected the negotiations and even in their last effort they wrote a letter to stop the negotiations.

Failure to remove Qasem Soleimani’s name, the commander of the Qods force, as well as calling the agreement as “a written text” by Khamenei starts the acts of the enemies of the democracy and also the advocate army and mobilizations representatives in the Islamic Republic Council. Reviewing the details of the 159-pages of agreements and its appendagesin the coming days we will face the critique and opposition made by military and supporters of the radical leadership of Iran.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s shadow on the nuclear diplomacy and agreement

iran_nuclear
IRGC and Nuclear diplomacy

The leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, is the main responsible of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s general policies and with his board legal authority, the direct intervention of the armed forces, especially the Revolutionary Guard- the survival element of the government – is also provided.

Following the previous review the direct involvement of the leader and the effective role of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on foreign policy and diplomacy, especially nuclear negotiations and agreement will be discussed.

Nowadays, the world pay special attention to international relations, in this context, foreign policy has a particular value to the extent that a political system is able to cause the consolidation of national interests in the world. Diplomatic means is the most basic providing security in the country and one of the most well-known routes mapped targets per country’s goals. However Ali Khamenei, the leader of Iran, defines Diplomacy as “an unreliable battle with the enemy”. “Diplomacy is a war, diplomats are fighting all around the world. The value and impact of this war is sometimes not less than military wars. “He mentioned in a speech on July, 9, 2000. As well as that, he ambiguously mentions the foreign policy and diplomatic action as similar as the behavior of troops and their commanders on the battles repeatedly.

These words were said during the Iran-Iraq war, but given the war conditions prevailing in the country, they were justified. Although these remarks by the highest official in the Islamic republic after the death of its founder- when the public opinion after intense glow in the first and second decade was expecting to reach stability- this definition of the doctrine ” enemy-centered foreign policy ” has caused several ups and downs in the international arena and affray to the country, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as the executive military leverage of his commandments, has always influenced in all areas, including foreign policy.

As “Qods Force”, the overseas branch of this organization, has been present in different regions such as Lebanon and Syria since the inception of the Islamic Republic, and its activities in the Middle East these days is no longer a secret.

These competent plans of the Iranian leader and its military organization,, leaded the country to the strong crisis of nuclear technology for military purposes, by the International Atomic Energy Agency, Western countries and the United Nations and due to the sanctions, the country was plunged into a terrible problems. While the current government is trying to achieve an agreement by retreating from the previous position and nuclear enlightment to save Iran from the sanctions and the threat of army war, pessimistic remark of Iran’s leader was a explicit permission for commanders- who were opposed the negotiation from the beginning- to direct intervention in the foreign policy and makeobstructions and sabotage the negotiations. It also led the commanders in various ways in their contradictory statements, the dark realm of discussion in the negotiation process and by emphasizing their own” red lines” as the “interests of the country” such as”the right to enrich nuclear cycle and research and development in this area “and” a ban on visits to military facilities “disrupt the process of the negotiations and achieve a comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear problem or even stop it.

Nevertheless it doesn’t seem that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders plan any defense and support of the official government through these statements. They are actually subordinate to the chief commander- leader of Iran- and if the vicious republic cycle in the Islamic Republic of Iran doesn’t solved, there will be a continued diplomatic shadow of military commanders in this matter.

The impact of Revolutionary Guard’s suppression of citizen journalists

Citizen Journalists with dual citizenship were arrested and sentenced to jail because of postings on Facebook and other social networks .

On June8, the spokesman of the judiciary system, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejehi, announced:”several individuals who regularly continued illegal social network activities as actions against national security, have been identified and arrested by the security forces.” It means that the army media security team, known as Cyber Army, is still active and has captured its victims.
According to the news, Mahmud Mousavifar and Shayan Akbar Pour, who ran the Rahian Facebook page and a blog called Rahi, are the latest names to be revealed of bloggers who have been arrested. The Revolutionary Guard Authorities arrested them at their Tehran home on May 31, and despite their family follow-ups, they still do not know why they were arrested and where they are being held.
Citizen Journalist, or CitizenBlogger, is the title referring to a set of political and civil society activists. In the absence of political parties and independent media, individually and without depending on any specific party, they publish news, photos, films and reports in public networkson different issues. In many cases, before the official news sources, they would publish their reports and would inform the people about events in many parts of the country. They report on events that national newspapers and news agencies might be prohibited to release due to various extreme security and intelligence matters.
The government security and intelligence sector, which are directly and also indirectly controlled by the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic during the 2000 decade, by his order, established a cyber-branch in the Revolutionary Guard to control Iraniancomputer and media expertusers in cyberspace. The commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Mohammad Ali Jafari says,”neutralizing the threat from soft war issues is one of the Revolutionary Guard’s responsibilities.” The leader of the Islamic Republic has also mentioned the start of soft war by enemies against the government several times in his speech. According to the published reports, more than one hundred individual reporters have been arrested so far, since Hassan Rohani’s Presidency. Unfortunately, after prolonged interrogations, according to the demandsplaced on the detaining organization, these reporters have been sentenced to heavy prison terms in dramatic trials. The highest number of such detentions has been done by the Revolutionary Guard intelligence.
Indeed, the Revolutionary Guard crackdown against media activities is the continued crackdown on the protesters against the disputed presidential coupelection in 2009. Following the privatization of the management of communication in Iran, the Revolutionary Guard won the ownership of Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI), the main telecommunication company and the largest Internet service provider, in a controversial suspended auction. In addition, three major mobile operators in Iran are indirectly held and propertied by the Revolutionary Guard and its shareholders. About 300 journalists and internet activists have been arrested arbitrarily, tortured and sentenced to long terms of imprisonment so far, since 2009. The majority of them have been sentenced to execution as they did not have the opportunity for having a lawyer to carry out the procedural formalities in court.
The writers and the technical staff of the website Narenji(which means ‘orange’ in Persian) were among the first victims of the Revolutionary Guard offensive since 2009. They were arrested on December 3, 2013 by the Revolutionary Guard. Ali AsgharHonarmand, Abbas Vahedi, Ehsan Paknejad, and Hossein Nozari were given sentences ranging from two to eleven years in prison.
The members of the Narenji website were all subjected to months of solitary confinement for confessionsto be extracted from them. Thesewere mainly acts of self-accusation that were used as evidence against them on collaboration with foreign and enemy media.
Recently, two of these Citizen Journalists with dual citizenship were arrested and sentenced to jail because of postings on Facebook and other social networks. FaridehShahgoli(with German citizenship) and Roya SaberinejadNobakht(with British citizenship) were sentenced to three and five years in jail, respectively.

According to Saham news, Roya SaberinejadNobakht and several Citizen Journalists such as Amir Golestani, MasoudGhasemkhani, FariborzKardarfar, SeyyedMasoudSeyyedTalebi, Amin Akramipour, Mehdi Reyshahri and NaghmeShahiSavandiShirazi were arrested. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard arrested these CitizenBloggers from late August 2013 until December of that year and imprisoned them in a solitary confinement section in Evin prison called Do Alef(2A) section, under extreme pressure to confess. On May 27,2014, the Tehran Revolutionary court, Branch 28, sentenced the bloggers to very heavy sentences. Last year, the Appeals Court adjusted some of these sentences.
The current president of Iran promised in his election campaign to “release political prisoners” and to “allow freedom of expression and press” several times. Indeed Dr Hassan Rohani won extensive youth and female support with these promises. However, against his knowledge, the autocrats, who feel that their situation is precarious, try to arrest the virtual network of active citizens for any reason, in order to frustrate and disappoint the people.
