Apart from the historic and lawful claims of the Republic of Azerbaijan over the land of Karabakh, to evaluate this situation, we must consider this fact that there are about 30 to 40 million Iranian-Turks which most of them are of Azerbaijani descent.

In the situation in hand people expected the government to take sides with the Republic of Azerbaijan but the Islamic Republic of Iran chose Armenia over Azerbaijan, A country with similar religious and ethnic characteristics.

UN arms embargoes on Iran expire despite U.S. objections

A decade-long UN arms embargo on Iran that barred it from purchasing foreign weapons like tanks and fighter jets expired Sunday as planned under its nuclear deal with world powers, despite objections from the United States, which insists the ban remains in place.

While Iran says it plans no “buying spree,” it can now in theory purchase weapons to upgrade military armaments dating back to before its 1979 Islamic Revolution and sell its own locally produced gear abroad.

In practice, however, Iran’s economy remains crippled by broad-reaching U.S. sanctions, and other nations may avoid arms deals with Tehran for fear of American financial retaliation.
The Trump administration has warned that any sales of weapons to Iran or exports from Iran will be penalized.

The Islamic Republic heralded the end of the arms embargo as “a momentous day for the international community … in defiance of the U.S. regime’s effort.”
The Trump administration, meanwhile, says the expiration is moot since it reimposed all UN sanctions on Iran, including the arms embargo, via a clause in the nuclear deal Trump withdrew from in 2018, a claim ignored by the rest of the world.

“Today’s normalization of Iran’s defense cooperation with the world is a win for the cause of multilateralism and peace and security in our region,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo flatly rejected the expiration. expire

“The United States is prepared to use its domestic authorities to sanction any individual or entity that materially contributes to the supply sale, or transfer of conventional arms to or from Iran, as well as those who provide technical training, financial support and services, and other assistance related to these arms,” he said in a statement.

Analysis: The IRGC runs for high office in Tehran

It’s not every day that a former hostage-taker and a man essential to the founding of a designated terrorist organization throws his hat into the ring for president, not even in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Tehran

That is why all eyes should be on 63-year-old Brigadier General and veteran of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hossein Dehghan, who expressed interest in participating in the June 2021 Iranian presidential election.

“I will enter [lit. come] with strength and I believe that the people must be saved from the current situation,” confirmed Dehghan.

While all Iranian presidential contenders must first be approved by the 12-member Guardian Council, Dehghan’s statement validates older rumors in Iranian media about his presidential aspirations.

Several other IRGC-linked individuals, be they men who formerly donned the uniform in a leadership capacity or those who now serve as heads of key parastatal institutions and guard Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s wealth, are also reportedly considering a presidential bid.

None, however, appears to have sparked the storm of analyses over military men in Iranian politics like Dehghan.

And with good reason. The troika of Dehghan’s biography, the domestic implications of his candidacy, and its impact on U.S. policy are too large to ignore.

Dehghan’s Revolutionary Resume

Born in 1957 in Shahreza, Esfahan province, Hossein Dehghan’s resume reads like a veritable checklist for the role of a consummate security official in the Islamic Republic.

For starters, Dehghan partook in the U.S.-Iran Hostage Crisis and has been pictured in Iranian media alongside a blindfolded American diplomat to burnish his revolutionary credentials.

Dehghan also joined the IRGC in its earliest days and saw service during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq War, a defining conflict for revolutionary Iran with far-reaching implications, including for current U.S. policy.

During the war, Dehghan served as commander of the IRGC’s Sarallah base responsible for Tehran from 1984-1986.

Prior to that, Israeli scholars relate that Dehghan was sent to Syria and Lebanon in response to the 1982 invasion of Lebanon by Israel.

Iran-linked Hacker Targeted Prominent Israeli Organizations in ‘New Phase’ of Cyber war

Israeli cybersecurity firms say a hacker team who in the past worked with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards led a new campaign against Israeli targets called ‘Operation Quicksand’

Two Israeli cybersecurity firms said Thursday that they thwarted a large-scale, Iranian-linked hacker operation in September called Operation Quicksand, which targeted “prominent Israeli organizations.”

The alleged attack would seem to indicate a “new phase” in Iranian attacks against Israel, the firms said, adding that the tools used have previously been reserved for criminal operations – as opposed to destructive offensive cyberattacks by state actors like Iran.

The claims were made in a report by cyber firms Profero and ClearSky. Two independent experts who read the report confirmed that its findings are in line with what is known about Iranian-linked hacking operations. They said the incident may well be the latest in the covert cyber war between Israel and the Islamic Republic.

Both requested anonymity due to their ties to Israel’s defense establishment.
According to the report, a group of hackers was discovered to have sent malware to Israeli organizations last month. The hacker group, called MuddyWater, was previously exposed as a contractor for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, they wrote.

The Israel National Cyber Directorate refused to address the attackers’ identity but told Haaretz that the information revealed in the report “is known to us, and we’ve published a number of warnings about them in September.”

These warnings, they said, included cues that are unique to the attackers, which could allow potential victims to identify attempts on their systems.
What made the attack suspicious, Profero head Omri Segev Moyal told Haaretz, was that it appeared to function like a criminally driven ransom attack, but “the main goal was not to actually steal data but rather, to cause damage in Israeli targets.”
Data theft is often the key to ransom attacks, but in this case “the hackers wanted to cause damage and they only disguised it as ransomware,” Segev Moyal said.

Deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force derided the US president’s comments about ensuring America’s security.

Saying criminal Trump must pay the price for all barbaric crimes, including the assassination of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

The criminal US president claims that his cruel measures, such as the assassination of Lt. General Soleimani, have made the US safer, the commander added. If the US has become safer, then why are the American forces shaking with fear in their bases and why is Washington begging for more time in its message for Iran, General Hejazi asked. Criminal Trump wrongly believes that the US is safe after committing the atrocities, but he has to pay the price for all crimes, the Iranian commander warned. In a meeting with Iraq’s prime minister in July, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned the United States that Iran will definitely reciprocate the assassination of Lt. General Soleimani. The Leader underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran will never forget the American assassination of the top commander in Iraq and “it will definitely deal the reciprocal blow to Americans.”On January 3, a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport assassinated General Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. The attack — that also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) anti-terror group, along with several others— came while General Soleimani was on an official visit to the Iraqi capital.
