In an “edict” to the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Baqeri, Ali Khamenei has emphasized on the need for setting a “health and treatment headquarters” to prevent further spread of the killer Covid-19 across the country.

Mohammad Baqeri is an Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General, directly appointed by Khamenei.

Furthermore, joining voices with the IRGC Chief Commander, Major General Hossein Salami, the 80-year-old cleric has implicitly described novel coronavirus epidemic as an American “biological attack.”

“Since there is speculation that this incident might be a ‘biological attack,’ this measure could also be some form of biological defense drill, which would add to national power and strength,” Khamenei said.

Salami had speculated on March 5 that the global coronavirus outbreak might be a “U.S. biological warfare attack on China.”

Khamenei’s decision is an apparent blow to Rouhani’s authority as the head of the government.

Meanwhile, in his letter addressed to the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Khamenei said he wants the military to work closely with Iran’s Ministry of Health and establish a headquarters for countering Covid-19.

More than 10,000 are infected with Novel Coronavirus, and 429 have fallen victim to Covid-19 in Iran, according to official figures.

However, an investigative report by Radio Farda based on statements made by local officials in various parts of Iran put the sum total of confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in thirty out of 31 Iranian provinces at a minimum of 927 as of last Monday evening. However, an investigative report by Radio Farda based on statements made by local officials in various parts of Iran put the sum total of confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in thirty out of 31 Iranian provinces at a minimum of 927 as of last Monday evening.

The Revolutionary Guard puts 80 million Iranians at risk for CoronaVirus

According to public information, Coronavirus in Iran started in the city of Qom and much of the responsibility for its spread can be attributed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC never ordered the stopping of Mahan Airline flights to and from China contributing to the import of the virus and its further expansion.

As of this weekend, Iran reports a total of 6,000 confirmed cases–one of the highest recorded cases outside of China. Deaths caused by coronavirus also reached 145. And at least 23 legislators have tested positive. (2nd Tehran lawmaker dies from coronavirus as Iran death toll hits 145)

The IRGC claims that flights to China were used to bring medical equipment and mask from Chin However, nobody really believes that.

Mahan Airlines has always been used to transport troops or services for the IRGC. Furthermore, the airlines was under the direct supervision of Ghassem Soleimani, prior to his death. Several countries have offered assistance and supplies to contain the epidemy in Iran. Iran refusing the help.

The pressure of the economic sanctions, as well as the critical trading situation, have forced the IRGC to maintain its commercial relations with China.

Spreading CoronaVirus throughout Iran

Besides trading and troop transport purposes, sources indicate that more than 700 religious scholars have traveled from China with the support of the IRGC. Those scholars then entering Qom and spreading the virus throughout the city.

A member of the Iranian parliament says the persons performing the ‘unconventional acts’ will face up to two years in jail as well as flogging.

But this is not the end. An IRGC officer admitted that after a theological training held in Qom last week, which received representatives from all the provinces, some participants became quarantined in their homes after testing positive for the virus.

All the situation got worse with the secrecy that the regime imposed around COVID-19 in the country. All converting Iran into a new kind of global threat.

IRGC hoards health masks and disinfectants amid Iran’s COVID-19 crisis

While numerous reports and videos from Iran indicate severe shortage of medical supplies, the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is stockpiling masks and disinfectants and is selling them at 20 times their price to the public.

On March 2, the Iranian regime’s Health Minister Saeed Namaki said in a letter to the Minister of Industry, “The problem of health masks is still not resolved and an intertwined network of hoarding masks is selling its products at ten times the price,” as reported ISNA news agency.

Ebrahim Raisi, the head of the judiciary and one the key players of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners, said on March 1 in an interview with state-run television: “I recommend the prosecutors across the country to show no mercy to those who stockpile.” But the regime has taken no measure to prevent the IRGC’s hoarding of health material, and instead authorities are cracking down on local retailers to create the impression of serving justice.

According to state-run media, presently in Kerman, a health mask that used to cost 2,000 rials is now sold at 60,000 rials, 30 times its original price. The situation in Tehran and other cities is the same and some reports indicate that in some places, masks are being sold at 150,000 rials.
Meanwhile the judiciary and other institutions intimidate those who due to lack of health facilities create self-made masks.
The website Khabar Fori (Urgent News) reported on March 2 that the Iranian regime has arrested dozens for manually making face masks and competing with state-run companies.

Numerous videos shared on social media in recent days show people in long lines waiting to buy masks and sanitizers amid a severe shortage of such items in stores and pharmacies.

Social media users have also reported that the regime is selling the supplies sent by European countries to Iran for humanitarian support during its COVID-19 crisis, instead of giving it to Iranians in their time of need.
In another video shared online, a man says he bought a German alcohol-based disinfectant from the black market.

Virus cases top 100,000 cases as economic impact snowballs

Crossing more borders, the new corona virus hit a milestone Friday, infecting more than 100,000 people worldwide as it wove itself deeper into the daily lives of millions, infecting the powerful, the unprotected poor and vast masses in between.

The virus, which has killed more than 3,400 people, edged into more U.S. states, emerged in at least four new countries and even breached the halls of the Vatican. It forced mosques in Iran and beyond to halt weekly Muslim prayers, blocked pilgrims from Jesus’ birthplace in Bethlehem and upended Japan’s plans for the Olympic torch parade.

As financial markets dived again, repercussions from the virus also rattled livelihoods in the real economy. “Who is going to feed their families?” asked Elias al-Arja, head of a hotel owners’ union in Bethlehem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where tourists have been banned and the storied Church of the Nativity was shuttered.

At the White House, President Donald Trump signed a $8.3 billion bill to fight the coronavirus a day after Italy said it would double its virus fight spending to 7.5 billion euros ($8.5 billion). In Geneva, the U.N. health agency said it had received applications for 40 possible virus tests, had 20 vaccine candidates in development and reported that numerous clinical trials of experimental drugs for the new coronavirus were under way.

“We’re all in this together. We all have a role to play,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, chief of the World Health Organization, urging more global cooperation from the business world and solidarity with the poorest.

Yet even as COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, reached 90 countries, more than half of those who contracted the virus have now recovered. It’s retreating in China, where it first emerged, and in nearby South Korea.

Questions swirled around whether Iran could control its outbreak, as the number of reported infections jumped beyond 4,700 on Friday, with 124 deaths. Iran set up checkpoints to limit travel and had firefighters spray disinfectant on an 18-kilometer (11-mile) stretch of Tehran’s most famous avenue.
